SCRANTON - The Lackawanna County Prison is on lockdown today while the jail undergoes a planned routine search.
The prison is required to conduct a full search of the facility, including inmate housing areas, twice a year, Warden Robert McMillan said.
"It's a normal operation," he said.
Mr. McMillan said the search, which began at 7 a.m., may be completed later today but could continue into Wednesday.
The operation is being carried out by the prison staff, he said.
