An Ohio man died on Interstate 80 in Pocono Twp. early Monday when his tractor-trailer rear-ended another that had stopped in the road.

Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen identified the man as Daniel Snyder, 41, of Youngstown, Ohio.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of I-80 near mile marker 295 at about 3:30 a.m.

The rig that Mr. Snyder's hit had stopped when it ran over a large cement slab that had fallen off still another tractor-trailer, according to reports from the coroner's office and state police.

It took several hours to pull Mr. Snyder from the wreckage, and Mr. Allen pronounced him dead at 6:30 a.m.

I-80 reopened just before 7 p.m. Monday, state police said.

The wreck had detoured traffic on the busy interchange of I-80 and I-380 for about 15 hours, as state police spent the day reconstructing the crash.
