SCRANTON — William Prescott Elementary School will be closed Monday due to a burst pipe that damaged a computer room and other areas of the building at Prescott Avenue and Myrtle Street.
Staff is at the school today repairing and cleaning the damage, according to the Scranton School District’s Facebook page.
Damaged material will be replaced on Monday, the post notes, adding classes will resume on Tuesday.
Scranton police were dispatched to the school on Saturday for a possible burglary but found collapsed ceiling tiles and water in the building. Firefighters discovered water gushing from a water pipe near the exterior of the building, which dampened the ceiling tiles above a computer room.
