After almost a month of undercover investigation, Throop police and Lackawanna County detectives have arrested a couple accused of heroin and crack-dealing.
Darryl McKeiver, 30, rear 150 Boulevard Ave., Throop, had been wanted by state police since February for escaping from the Min Sec halfway house on Adams Avenue in Scranton, according to a criminal complaint.
On Tuesday, Throop police and the Lackawanna County District Attorney's office capped off its investigation into Mr. McKeiver and his live-in girlfriend, Danielle Powers, 27, by first arresting Ms. Powers on a traffic stop in the van she and Mr. McKeiver used to make drug deals.
Investigators found 27 bags of heroin and four bags of crack hidden in her clothing as well as the cell phone she used to arrange drug deals over several weeks.
In she and Mr. McKeiver's home, investigators found Ms. Powers' two young children - one of whom had accompanied her on a previous drug deal - in their bedrooms and Mr. McKeiver in the middle of taking a shower, according to the complaint.
A search of the home turned up 50 bags of heroin, six bags of crack and a handgun that had recently been stolen in Throop, according to the complaint.
Ms. Powers and Mr. McKeiver were each arrested on dozens of charges, including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of children.
Mr. McKeiver and Ms. Powers were each remanded to the Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $100,000 and $50,000 bail, respectively.
The two children were left in the custody of relatives.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Thursday.
