SCRANTON — A burst pipe caused substantial damage to a computer room and other areas inside William Prescott Elementary School on Saturday, a fire official said.
Scranton police were dispatched to the school for a possible burglary, according to Assistant Fire Chief Jeff White. Instead, they found collapsed ceiling tiles and water in the school.
Firefighters called to the scene discovered water gushing from a water pipe near the exterior of the building, which dampened ceiling tiles above a computer room. They cut the water source and turned the matter over to school district officials.
