Forest City teacher falls short in title
HERSHEY - A Jefferson County educator was named Pennsylvania's 2013 Teacher of the Year on Tuesday. Eleven other finalists - including one from Forest City - had been vying for the honor.
Denise Bolcavage, a fourth-grade teacher at Forest City Regional Elementary School, learned earlier this year she was a finalist.
At Forest City, she designed a substitute teacher orientation program and is involved in a schoolwide behavior program. She has written curriculum and grants for technology funding and tutors students regularly.
Ryan Devlin, a teacher in the Brockway Area School District, received the honor during the Keystone Awards of Excellence banquet in Hershey.
