Greenman- Pedersen Inc.

Dave Johns, P.E., has joined GPI as structural department leader. Mr. Johns is a registered structural engineer and a 1998 graduate of Widener University with a bachelor's degree in structural engineering. He lives in Moosic with his wife, Christine, and children, Luke and Hannah.

King's College

Michelle Schmude, Ph.D., chairwoman, department of mass communications at King's College, recently published an article, "The Marketing Communications (MarCom) Matrix and Higher Education: How it All Works Together," in the Journal of Mass Communications and Journalism.

Powell Law Firm

Attorney Mark J. Powell of Scranton recently served as an instructor for the advanced trial skills seminar sponsored by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy at the U.S. District Courthouse in Washington, D.C. He co-lectured with his brother, attorney Thomas J. Powell, a Scranton native who practices in Fairfax, Va.

Mark Powell earned his juris doctor from Catholic University Law School and a Master of Laws degree from Temple University Law School.

Thomas Powell earned his juris doctor from George Washington University and a Master of Laws degree from Temple University Law School. He also holds a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois and serves as an adjunct professor in the University of Maryland's Clark School of Engineering.

Reuther+Bowen

Thomas P. Murphy Jr., P.E., has joined the firm as a senior structural engineer. Mr. Murphy will be responsible for project management and engineering design of building projects. He is currently working on a new, 84,000-square-foot library for Marywood University. He holds a professional engineer registration in Pennsylvania and earned a bachelor of architectural engineering degree from Penn State University. Mr. Murphy lives in Carbondale with his wife, Alyce, and two children.

Tobyhanna Army Depot

Caitlin Best, a resident of Pittston, was awarded the Arline Philips Achievement Award at the Association for the Blind's annual dinner. Ms. Best is an equal employment opportunity assistant. The award is named for the founder of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Association for the Blind.

Wright Manufacturing

Judith Ross has been appointed northeast regional sales and marketing manager. She will work with distributors and dealers in New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including Csiszars Service in Industry and F&S Supply Co. Inc. in Dickson City, to increase Wright commercial lawnmower sales. Ms. Ross is a Boston University graduate who lives in Newburyport, Mass., and will establish a Wright northeast sales office in Massachusetts.

WBRE-TV

Starting Monday, Tim Kelchner, 28, will begin working alongside Monica Madeja during the morning newscast. The Millville, Pa., native spent the past 18 months working as a sports reporter for Fox 16 in Little Rock, Ark.
