TAYLOR - The sale of trains, trucks and jewelry will help buy equipment for Taylor firefighters.
Several hundred people attended the annual toy, train and collectibles show Saturday at Taylor Fire Department headquarters on Union Street.
Joey Iacovazzi, one of the department's social members, started the show four years ago as a way to raise money for the department. He hoped to raise between $2,000 and $3,000 on Saturday.
"It's been growing every year," he said.
This year, 85 tables throughout the station offered a variety of model trains, Tonka trucks and miniature NASCAR racers.
One of the highlights was a model circus train display, complete with handmade buildings and details that had people in awe.
"I had people in here all day long," said the display's creator, Sheldon Endy of Lehigh Twp. "I already told them I'd come back next year."
The fundraiser is especially important after the Fire Department's pavilion was damaged in a fire during a barbecue chicken fundraiser in October. Not only did the pavilion sustain heavy damage, the chickens for the dinner were ruined in the fire.
"Anything like this helps," volunteer firefighter Dave Bowman said of Saturday's show.
Next year's show has already been scheduled for Dec. 7, Mr. Iacovazzi said.
