Mellow Theater to keep name
Two days before former state Senate Democratic Leader Robert J. Mellow appeared in federal court for sentencing, Lackawanna College Board of Trustees met to discuss the name of the college's Mellow Theater.
College officials announced Friday that, after a lengthy and thoughtful discussion, the majority of the board members decided to leave the theater's name as is.
"This decision is made exclusively in recognition of the 30-plus years of dedication and service of Sen. Robert J. Mellow and the direct benefits of his efforts in support of Lackawanna College and its students," according to a press release sent Friday by college spokesman Christopher S. Kucharski. "The board considers this matter closed, and the college will have no further comment on the issue."
