The building boom may not be over at the University of Scranton.

School officials are in the early planning stages for a new facility that would house three university programs.

University spokesman Stan Zygmunt confirmed this week that a facility is being planned for the occupational therapy, physical therapy and exercise science programs.

He declined to comment further on the plans, including whether the structure would be built on property already owned by the university. Mr. Zygmunt said it would be at least spring before finalized plans are announced.

The occupational and physical therapy programs are now in Leahy Hall, at Linden Street and Jefferson Avenue. The exercise science program is located in the lower level of the Long Center, the campus's gymnasium.

Mark Seitzinger, director of the city's Department of Licensing, Inspections and Permits, said that as of Friday he had not received any permit applications from the university.

Mr. Seitzinger said he had also not received any permits for the university's renovation of the South Side Sports Complex. This summer, the school was in the "early stage" of the planning process for developing soccer, baseball and softball fields. Any announcement about that project will also likely not happen until spring, Mr. Zygmunt said.

The projects follow several years of expansion for the university, including a new campus center, science center and residence halls.
