Fire breaks out at South Abington home early Thursday

SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. - A fire that began at a South Abington Twp. home early Thursday summoned volunteers from five local departments.

Firefighters from Chinchilla Hose Company, Clarks Summit, Dalton, Dickson City and Scott Twp. all responded to the scene after initial reports came in about 12:40 a.m.

The fire was brought under control in a matter of minutes, according to Chinchilla Hose Co. Assistant Chief Kevin Quinn. Flames damaged a one-car garage and some siding at 133 Sumner Ave., and the one-story house also sustained smoke and water damage, according to reports on the scene.

At least one person was home at the time, although no injuries were reported, according to fire officials at the scene. There was no further information available early Thursday morning.
