Update: Police name suspect in Blooming Grove police shooting
State police obtained a search warrant in Monroe County overnight in connection with the shooting of two state troopers last Friday night.
Magisterial District Judge Michael Muth, whose district encompassses East Stroudsburg, confirmed he issued the warrant, but declined to release a copy or provide specifics of what or where police planned to search.
He said the warrant would only be released after police return an inventory outlining the results of their search. They have 48 hours to do so, he said.
State police are looking for the shooter or shooters who killed state police Cpl. Bryon K. Dickson II, 38, of Dunmore, and seriously wounded Trooper Alex T. Douglass, 31, of Olyphant.
Trooper Tom Kelly, a state police spokesman, said the agency plans a news conference this afternoon.
"We have made progress in the investigation and some pertinent information will be released during this conference," he said in an email.
Route 402 in front of the Pike County barracks reopened this morning after being closed last night for several hours while law enforcement continues its investigation into Friday night's ambush.
The road may be closed again for several hours over the next few days and/or nights, local police and fire officials said, as investigators examine the scene.
The barracks are overcrowded with cars late this morning and more cars line Route 402. Conservation officers, game commission officers and FBI agents can be seen gathered on the property.
An officer stands guard at the main entrance of the barracks.
There is no visible activity in front of the barracks, unlike Monday, when investigators measured windows and reviewed the crime scene.
About a mile down the road at the Blooming Grove Baptist Church, police equipment sits on flatbeds. Investigators move in and out of the church, continuing to use the church for their operations.
